Indonesian Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto welcomed Chief of the Defence Staff of the United Kingdom, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, for an honorary visit at the Ministry of Defense in Jakarta on Thursday (30/5).
Tony was warmly greeted by Prabowo and they engaged in discussions regarding the enhancement of bilateral defense cooperation between the two countries, building on the previous talks during Prabowo’s visit to London in March.
Prabowo highlighted the potential for developing an advanced, modern, and independent defense industry through collaborations with various countries, including the UK, emphasizing the importance of the UK as a close relative and key partner in defense for Indonesia.
Various important topics were discussed during the meeting, including priority areas of cooperation beneficial for Indonesia and potential future joint projects. Prabowo also presented gifts such as a traditional keris and a pin from the Ministry of Defense, while Tony reciprocated with a personal gift.
Officials from the Ministry of Defense were also present at the meeting, including the Acting Secretary-General, the Acting Director General of Strategic Defense, the Head of Defense Facility Agency, and the Acting Head of Defense Infrastructure Agency.
