Pak Harto was always seen with a smile and rarely got angry, but when he did, he would be silent and avoid talking to angry people.

In 1983, the author became Pak Harto’s son-in-law. The author had a military background and had conducted operations in East Timor. Pak Harto had a very busy schedule, with very little sleep. He had a photographic memory and was very good with numbers. Despite his busy schedule, he always made time for his family and guests.

Pak Harto deeply understood Javanese philosophy and often used it in his leadership style. He believed in the teachings of ancient scholars and passed them on to others. His book, Butir-Butir Budaya Jawa, is a compilation of these teachings and is considered very important in understanding Indonesian culture.

One memorable occasion was when the author was summoned by Pak Harto before a operation in East Timor. Rather than providing financial assistance, Pak Harto gave the author three pieces of advice: Ojo lali, ojo dumeh, ojo ngoyo. These teachings were valuable and came from someone with extensive combat experience.

Overall, Pak Harto was a hard-working and disciplined leader who valued education, family, and tradition. His teachings and advice continue to be valuable to those who follow them.
