President Prabowo Subianto is confident that Indonesia will achieve net-zero carbon emissions on schedule, making it one of the pioneers in this achievement. During a virtual conference on the launch of renewable energy projects and the expansion of oil production in East Java, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s ability to efficiently produce energy and streamline logistics chains. Energy independence is a key aspect of Indonesia’s quest for national sovereignty, with plans to introduce 55 new renewable energy initiatives, including geothermal power plants, to deliver clean and reliable energy throughout the country.
In acknowledging the vast oil and gas reserves in Indonesia, Prabowo stressed the importance of embracing renewable energy, especially solar power, to ensure energy self-sufficiency in communities nationwide. He applauded the collaborative efforts of various ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy companies like Medco Energi and ExxonMobil for their support in Indonesia’s energy transition. Prabowo remains hopeful for Indonesia’s future, citing solar energy as a beacon of optimism for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands.
