The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) temporarily halted the operations of its Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) due to the discovery of substandard food in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the BGN, stated that the affected SPPG units are suspended until the investigation is complete and the MBG food samples are fully tested in the laboratory. BGN is working with independent institutions, local health, and education departments to determine the cause of the incident and ensure the well-being of affected students.
Apologies were extended to the students, parents, schools, and all parties affected by the incident. BGN emphasized its zero tolerance for negligence in the procurement and distribution of MBG meals, prioritizing the health and safety of all beneficiaries. Collaborating with local government authorities, the agency is swiftly implementing corrective measures such as stricter partner screening, enhanced hygiene standards, improved supply chain monitoring, and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The incident is seen as a learning opportunity for future enhancements to the program. The National Nutrition Agency remains committed to meeting food safety standards and delivering the intended benefits of the MBG Program.
